Progress to date

An interim steering group was formed after the purchase of the land. This is to be strengthened and expanded and will include more local people and representatives of local groups, and especially those who have specialised expertise that will benefit the project. The legal status of the Project is to be a not-for-profit social enterprise, run as a company limited by guarantee.

We have received extremely enthusiastic support and interest from a number of educational and other organisations. One local school now uses the woodland, and several others would like to. Their students benefit enormously from their visits and we benefit too, from their input and enthusiasm as well as from their practical assistance.
Arrangements were made for young people to join the project in early spring of this year on work experience courses, and other volunteers attend reguarly.
